Tips for your last-minute summer road trip!
August 6, 2010 by SUBARULOVERS, under Day Trip, Events.

For many people, especially in the HOT Valley of the Sun, summer inspires travel and adventure, but the summer is going to be gone before you know it. Now, there has never been a better time to load up the Subie and get on with your end-of-summer road trip!
Remember, before loading your Subaru for the trip, read the following tips to help ensure a safer ride.
1. Refer to your Owner’s Manual or the label mounted on the driver’s door pillar for your vehicle’s GVWR — then stick to it. The GVWR is the total weight limit of the car and everything in, on and attached to it. Exceeding the GVWR can affect handling, braking and overall performance.
2. Avoid overloading any one area of your vehicle. An overloaded trunk, for example, can over-compress the rear suspension and leave the front suspension without enough weight. The result? Compromised handling and steering.
3. Check the tire pressure of each of your tires to make sure they’re at the pounds per square inch (psi) specified in your Owner’s Manual or on the driver’s door pillar label.
4. Keep a clear rear view! Any obstruction can impair driving safety, even if your vehicle is equipped with a rear-view camera.
5. If you use a roof rack system, do not exceed its maximum weight limit. An overweight roof rack can change your vehicle’s center of gravity and potentially affect performance. See your Subaru Owner’s Manual for maximum weight limits.
It’s always a good idea to review your Owner’s Manual before embarking on any journey.
So buckle up, drive safely and happy travels! Remember to gear up before you go!
