The 2011 WRX STI Shines on the Nürburgring

August 6, 2010 by , under Uncategorized.

Now we’ve got the video to prove that the 2011 WRX STI is here, and it’s faster than ever. In fact, the new STI dominated Germany’s Nürburgring race track as world champion rally driver Tommi Mäkinen whipped it over 20 km in only 7 minutes and 55 seconds.  That’s around a whopping 4 seconds quicker than the 2010 model due to its improved performance, body and aerodynamics.  It’s the fastest ever seen by Subaru!

The Nürburgring race track in Germany is one of the toughest in the world due to its real road track conditions.  It is is inconsistent, there are blind corners, weather variations, severe ups and downs, and more.  Because Subaru engineers vehicles that can be used safely, driven at any speed, on all road surfaces, and on all road conditions, there is no better place to test and research a vehicle than the Nürburgring .

So what exactly is new about the 2011 STI?

Well, it’s available once again in a four-door sedan with its iconic rear wing that’s been designed to produce less drag.  It now comes standard with new 18-inch aluminum wheels that are 17 lbs. lighter than before, or silver BBS®* forged alloy wheels for drivers who like to stand out from the crowd. The suspension got a makeover as well with thicker front and rear stabilizers and stiffer springs.

Combine it all with the 305-horsepower SUBARU BOXER® power plant and you can feel the Gs just by looking at it!

And the best part??  It arrives in SEPTEMBER!  We only have about a month longer to wait!
