Subaru Facebook Fans Choose Make-A-Wish Foundation for Share the Love Event

September 30, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Events, Promotions.

Subaru Share the Love Event

Subaru Facebook fans have voted, and the nonprofit charity they’ve chosen to “Share Their Love” with is the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

For the first time ever, Subaru invited Facebook fans to vote on a charitable organization for the automaker’s fourth annual Share The Love event. After three weeks of voting, Subaru Facebook fans added the Make-A-Wish Foundation to a roster of charities anticipated to receive a collective $5 million in donations from Subaru.

The Share The Love event, which donates $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased from Nov. 19 through Jan. 3, has donated nearly $15 million to charitable causes since the program’s inception three years ago. The other recipient organizations that will benefit from this year’s program include American Forests, the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), Meals On Wheels Association of America, and Special Olympics.

“At Subaru, we support causes that our owners are also passionate about. This year we took the Share The Love event a step further and asked our Facebook fans to decide which organization they’d like to add to the designated charities for this year’s event. We’re absolutely delighted to welcome the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the People’s Choice to join our existing charities,” said Brian Johnson, national advertising manager, Subaru of America, Inc.

The All-Subaru Shoot-Out And Show-Off Relocates To The Pomona Fairplex Oct. 22
Subiefest, the largest all-Subaru motorsport event in America, returns for its 6th consecutive year with new fun for the entire family. Gates at Subiefest’s new Pomona Fairplex location open at 9am sharp on October 22!
Los Angeles, California (September 19, 2011)– This year is a landmark year for Subiefest as it brings Subaru centered entertainment even closer to the Los Angeles masses. “The idea of a new location and revised format came straight from the feedback we received from both attendees and sponsors,” said Robert Champion, Event Director. “The passion of Subaru owners combined with an event that supports them is what has made Subiefest the largest ongoing all-Subaru motorsport event in America.”This year’s show is a direct product of the feedback provided in 2010. “We’ve answered attendees with refocused content to include more of the community, better activities, and more value to sponsors,” stated Champion. The backbone of Subiefest, an all-Subaru car show, returns and is open to street cars, show cars, rally cars, and race cars. Official Subiefest media partner, DSPORT Magazine, will present an “Editor’s Choice” award to a lucky entrant in the car show.Subiefest has invited professional driving instructors to staff the all-Subaru autocross to help enthusiasts understand how to drive their Subarus faster and more safely. Enthusiasts without a Subaru suitable for autocross will be able to win a chance to drive the 2011 Subaru STI featured in the movie “Born to Race” by filling out the application at www.irvinesubaru.com or at Irvine Subaru in Lake Forest, CA.

Hoonigan has sponsored the wet skid pad area where drivers can safely practice their drifting skills with minimal risk. Barrels will allow for gymkhana-style figure-eight practice. This will be an event favorite for both those driving and watching. Drivers should pre-register for this early, as spots are limited.

Already massively popular, the Subiefest vendor area has grown to include even more brands featuring wheels, tunes, brakes, turbos, skidplates, other aftermarket Subaru parts as well as apparel. Evan Cline of Exedy Clutch said, “The Subaru market and the Subaru enthusiast play such a pinnacle role in the performance industry – Exedy is eagerly awaiting their return to Subiefest. After attending Subiefest for the first time last year, we knew we would be involved from then on out.” Exclusive Subiefest only deals will be too good to miss. Visit  http://www.subiefest.com/sponsors  for a list of event vendors and sponsors.

Rounding out the vendor area will be onsite dent removal and vinyl installation services so owners can take care of any cosmetics that have been nagging. Onsite vinyl decal and graphics application will allow owners to add finishing touches and personalization while still at the event.

Subiefest 2011 will feature more fun activities including a climbing wall, Subaru scavenger hunt, kids area, dunk tank to raise money for Scoobies for Boobies, and more family fun. For animal lovers, the Subiefest staff is currently working with ASPCA to bring some pet friendly elements to the event, as well as raise awareness for its cause.

Now in its 6th year, Subiefest is purpose built for Subaru owners to connect and make friends. It’s made Subiefest the largest show of its type and helped grow it every year. Subiefest thanks its owners, vendors, and sponsors and looks forward to seeing everyone on October 22nd at Pomona Fairplex.

Subaru Superstore Report: Subaru Outback Named “2011 Best Car for Families”

September 28, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru Outback.

Photo: 2011 Subaru Outback

Photo: 2011 Subaru Outback named Best Car for Families by Kiplinger's.

Choosing a family car is one of the most important buying decisions you will make, and one of the most difficult. With so many vehicles to choose from, how do you know which vehicles are the best for families?

The answer, of course, depends on your budget and the size of your family. But it also helps to have recommendations from a trusted source like Kiplinger’s, which recently compiled a list of the 2011 Best Cars for Families.

Topping the list as one of the best cars for families was the Subaru Outback, which boasts 34.3 cubic feet of cargo space for strollers and other gear, 29 mpg highway, and positive reviews from parents. It also received the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick – which means it received the top rating not only for front, side and rear crash tests but also for roof-strength rollover tests. Traction control, stability control and six airbags also come standard.

Oh, and did we mention it has the best resale value out of any other wagon?

Here’s what Kiplinger’s had to say about the Subaru Outback being one of its Best Cars for Families:

Subaru’s Outback grew to even more generous, family-friendly proportions with its 2010 redesign. Kiplinger’s Best in Class wagon offers more rear legroom than any of its wagon peers, and its taller height makes installing safety seats easier.

The cargo area is roomy and comes with a removable tray to protect the carpet. The Outback is tops for resale value among wagons, too.

You can check out the family-friendly Subaru Outback at Subaru Superstore – the largest Subaru dealership serving Chandler, Phoenix, Mesa and Tempe.

Subaru Superstore Report: Subaru Legacy Earns 2011 Ideal Vehicle Award

September 26, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru Legacy.

The Subaru Legacy has won several awards, including earning a 2011 IIHS Top Safety Pick and a 2011 Residual Value Award. But perhaps the most important honor the Subaru Legacy has earned is a 2011 Ideal Vehicle Award, which reveals which vehicles most closely match their owner’s desires.

According to automotive research and consulting firm AutoPacific, the 2011 Subaru Legacy the top-rated midsize car by its owners when it comes to matching what they want.

“Everyone has had the experience of wanting to change something after you’ve bought it and experienced it for a while. This is especially true of vehicles,” says AutoPacific President George Peterson. “This research recognizes the vehicles that owners want to change the least.”

2011 Ideal Vehicle Awards

To come up with their 2011 Ideal Vehicle Award winners, AutoPacific poured over more than 72,000 consumer surveys. To determine the winners, owners rated their new car or truck on how close it came to “ideal” in 15 different categories ranging from power and acceleration to safety features and storage. The vehicles that customers said they would change the least were considered the most “ideal.”

“It’s getting harder and harder to measure quality differences in today’s vehicles,” says Peterson. “Consumers need better insights into which vehicles will meet their ideal for comfort, ride and handling, cargo space, and other attributes that are experienced on a daily basis. IVA winners deliver the most of what consumers are really looking for in their vehicles. Shoppers can use the IVAs as a benchmark for vehicles that are designed and built with customers in mind.”

Now that the Subaru Legacy has set the benchmark for the midsize car segment, we suggest you check out the award-winning sedan at Subaru Superstore. Subaru Superstore’s Phoenix Subaru dealership has the largest inventory of new and certified pre-owned Subaru vehicles in Arizona.

Stop by this weekend to check out the 2011 Legacy and Subaru Superstore’s other award-winning models.

Allstate Ranks Phoenix & Chandler Drivers the Best in Nation

September 16, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru Safety.

Phoenix commuters Pat yourself on the back, Phoenix drivers, because you’ve just been named the safest big city commuters in the country! Chandler, Arizona, drivers also topped the list as having some of the safest drivers overall.

Allstate Insurance just released its seventh annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report,” which ranks America’s 200 largest cities in terms of how often car collisions occur to identify which cities have the safest drivers.

For the second year in a row, Fort Collins, Colorado, topped the list as having the safest drivers overall. Chandler, Arizona, drivers came in at a very respectable #4.

Most of the cities ranked – like Fort Collins and Chandler – are medium-sized metropolitan areas, so Allstate also compiled a list of the safest cities with populations of more than 1 million people. On that list, Phoenix came it at #1 – for the seventh year in a row! San Diego and San Antonio are the next safest big cities.

According to the 2011 Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report, Chandler, Arizona, drivers are 20.4% less likely to get into a collision compared to the national average and have an average of 12.6 years between collisions.

In big cities like Phoenix, drivers are actually more likely to get into an accident than the national average, but Phoenix commuters nearly meet that average by being 1.1% more likely to get into a collision. That’s pretty good when you consider commuters in Philadelphia – the worst big city on the list – who are more than 60% more likely get into a collision. The average number of years between collisions for Phoenix drivers is 10.1.

Just because you live in a city with some of the safest drivers in the country, however, doesn’t mean you should take automobile safety for granted. In the event you do have a collision, a vehicle equipped with top-notch safety features can keep you out of serious harm’s way.

Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety Picks for all models, two years in a row. You can find all these top safety Subaru models at Subaru Superstore – the premiere Subaru dealership in Chandler and Phoenix, Arizona.

Subaru Superstore Report: 2012 Subaru XV Debuts at Frankfurt Motor Show

September 15, 2011 by , under Dealership News, New Subaru Models, Subaru XV.

Subaru debuted a pretty cool-looking new crossover SUV at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show that is reminiscent of the Outback Sport — but don’t call it that, the Japanese automaker says. This stylish little orange all-roader is Subaru’s new XV crossover.

“The launch of the XV takes Subaru into the compact crossover segment for the first time, where combining style but with functionality is key. In this highly competitive segment, the XV will offer something different, and will bring a new level of engineering excellence,” said Subaru in a press release.

We first told you about the 2012 Subaru XV in July after Subaru Superstore discovered leaked photos of the new crossover that appeared online following a patent filing. We’re happy to see that the real-life version of the 2012 Subaru XV is even more stylish and distinctive than the leaked photos hinted at. (See the Frankfurt photos of the 2012 Subaru XV below.)

The European specifications for the 2012 Subaru XV show that it has a trail-friendly clearance of 8.6 inches, Subaru’s new 3rd-generation Boxer engine available in 1.6-liter and 2.0-liter models, and Subaru’s newly developed “Auto Start System,” which Subaru says will further improve the XV crossover’s fuel efficiency. No fuel economy numbers have been released yet.

It’s still unclear when the 2012 Subaru XV will make its way to U.S. dealerships, but we’ll be waiting patiently until it does. In the meantime, you can check out the current and most popular Subaru crossover, the 2011 Outback, at Subaru Superstore – the largest Subaru dealership in Arizona.

Subaru Superstore Report: One in Four Can’t Afford to Fix Their Cars

September 7, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru Service.

A new survey by AAA reveals that one quarter of American drivers have neglected car repairs and maintenance in the past 12 months due to the economy, with more than half keeping their old car to avoid the financial burden of purchasing a new model.

Skipping regular maintenance schedules and putting off “insignificant” car repairs may seem like a temporary solution when you’re strapped for cash, but it can actually cost you more money in the long run. Neglecting either of these can greatly increase the likelihood of the car needing a costly, major repair. Yet, according to the AAA survey, one in four American drivers would not be able to pay for a car repair of $2,000 if faced with one today, and one in eight would be unable to pay for a repair bill of $1,000.

“Economic conditions have taken their toll on many Americans resulting in them neglecting their cars and leaving them at increased risk for very expensive repair bills,” said Marshall L. Doney, AAA Vice President, Automotive and Financial Services. “Many Americans rely on their cars for their livelihood and losing access to them could be financially devastating during an already troubling economic time.

“It’s important for drivers to not only continue to maintain their vehicles, but also have a financial emergency plan in place should they be faced with a sudden unexpected auto repair bill,” continued Doney.

Unfortunately, a $1,000 or $2,000 or higher car repair bill can quickly appear — especially on older vehicles that have not been properly maintained. While repair costs can vary greatly by make, model and type of repair, a transmission repair can be $2,000 to $4,000, while an engine repair can exceed $5,000. Major brake repairs may range from $350 to $1,000, and a new set of tires can run from $300 to more than $1,000.

Subaru Superstore Report: Study Shows Why Women Dig Guys with Hot Cars

August 27, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru WRX.

Photo: Subaru WRX

Photo: Subaru WRX

If you’re a single guy looking to buy a new or used car in Tempe, listen up: the car you choose will have a direct impact on how attractive you are to the ladies.

While the notion that women dig dudes who drive hot cars is not rocket science, the science behind why women like guys with posh wheels has finally been explained. And no, it’s not what you think.

According to Reuters:

A recent study by Texas researchers proves what single men have known for a long time: Chicks dig hot cars.

Men who wear expensive clothes and drive flashy cars are more successful at having flings and staying single than their financially conservative counterparts, researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio said.

And while it’s not exactly groundbreaking information that some women are more likely to go from the bar with a guy in a Porsche rather than a Geo, the project found the phenomenon is less about gold-digging and more about “signals,” University of Texas at San Antonio marketing professor Dr. Jill Sundie told Reuters on Monday.

By engaging in splashy personal spending, men are sending a signal to women that they want a “short term relationship,” much like peacocks trying to woo a mating partner using “wasteful, elaborate displays,” Sundie said.

“Basically, they’re just trying to convince a female that, ‘Hey, if all you’re looking for is genes, I have the best genes, so you should choose me,’” she said.

Women, pick up on that signal and respond to it — positively if she’s into that kind of thing, or negatively if she is looking for marriage material.

“Women seem to understand that when they see a man who has chosen to spend money conspicuously, they think he would be more interesting as a date,” Sundie said.

That is, if all they want is a one-nighter or something temporary. When it comes to the long term, Sundie said, flashing the cash becomes a turn-off for women.

“If you ask them to think of these men instead as a long term partner, how good is this guy as a marriage partner, the flashy spending doesn’t help him at all,” she said.

The same is not true for women, the study shows.

Researchers surveyed nearly 1,000 men and women in four separate studies to determine the signals sent by conspicuous consumption and how it is viewed by the opposite sex. Their findings were published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.

Sundie stressed that not all men who spend conspicuously do so in hopes of having a fling, and women who date these types of men are not all interested simply in flings.

But the signals are clear, even if the intentions are not.

“It appears to be a behavior that is much more likely to occur if the guy is seeking short-term relationships, and he is thinking about a situation where he might be able to get one of those short-term relationships,” she said. “When they think about women, they spend lots of money.”

If you’re “on the market” and in the market to buy a new car in Chandler, we suggest you check out the Impreza WRX or WRX STI at Subaru Superstore – two of the fastest cars on the road.

Subaru Superstore Report: Teen Drivers Increase Insurance Premiums by 200%

August 22, 2011 by , under Dealership News.

One of the scariest moments in a parent’s life is handing over the car keys to their new teenage driver, as depicted in the Subaru commercial above. If you think that’s scary, though, wait until you see what your teen driver will do to your car insurance premium.

A new report from CarInsurance.com says adding a teen driver to your car insurance can cause the six-month premiums to increase by more than 200%.

To compile its report, CarInsurance.com gathered insurance quotes in 25 states for otherwise identical families: a 49-year-old father and 48-year-old mother who drive a financed 2009 Toyota Camry and a paid-off 2004 Ford Expedition, both with full collision, comprehensive and liability coverage, and no violations or accidents. They live in middle-class suburbs and commute to white-collar jobs.

Then they added a teenage boy to the mix.

Impact of Teen Drivers on Car Insurance Policies

Families living in Scottsdale, Arizona are punished the most for insuring teen drivers. According to the CarInsurance.com report, car insurance premium prices for teen drivers in Scottsdale increase a whopping 243%, from $483 to $1,659 — that’s $1,176 more for just 6 months of insuring your teen driver!

Unfortunately, those high insurance premiums will only go higher if your teen gets a traffic ticket or is involved in an accident, which he is likely to do. According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), the average teen driver is 1.8 times more likely to get a traffic ticket and 3.7 times more likely to be involved in an accident than the average driver. Once he has had one accident, NHTSA data show, he’s 50 percent more likely than even other 16-year-olds to have another.

CarInsurance.com found that rates on the cheapest policies rose about 25 percent when they added a rear-end collision with $3,500 worth of damage, courtesy of their fictional 16-year-old driver. In those cities with the more expensive polices, like Scottsdale, the rate sometimes doubled.

How Can I Lower My Car Insurance Rate with a Teen Driver?

There are several things you can do to lower your car insurance rate when you add a teen driver to your policy. First, shop around for the best rate online or by calling several agents. A few minutes of research can save you possibly hundreds or even thousands of dollars.

Second, it helps is your teen is a good student. In general, you can expect to save 10 percent to 15 percent if your insurer offers a good student discount.

Third, buy the right car. The cheapest vehicles to insure are typically minivans, but try explaining that to your image-conscious teen driver. Instead, consider buying a safe and affordable SUV or crossover, like Subaru Superstore’s Outback or Forester.

The Subaru Outback is a recent winner of the 2011 Lowest True Cost to Own awards by Edmunds.com and has been named “Best in Class” for SUVs by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance. The Subaru Forester is one of the Top 10 Best Affordable Compact SUVs, according to U.S. News Rankings and Reviews, and has also been named “Best in Class” for small crossovers and a “Best Resale” winner by Kiplinger’s.

Subaru Superstore also carries several sedan models, including the Subaru Impreza and Subaru Legacy.

Check out all these teen-friendly models at Subaru Superstore – the premiere Subaru dealer serving the Chandler, Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe and Scottsdale areas.
