Subaru Superstore Chandler “Share the Love” Event

Subaru Superstore is sharing the love this holiday season by participating in the fourth annual “Share the Love” event at our Chandler Subaru dealership.
From now until January 3, 2012, Subaru will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle we sell at our Chandler Subaru dealership to one of five charities:
• American Forests: restores and protects rural and urban forests worldwide. It is the oldest national conservation nonprofit in the country and the only one focused exclusively on forests.
• The ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals): works to rescue animals from abuse, pass humane laws and share resources with shelters across the country.
• Make-A-Wish Foundation: grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It has granted more than 212,000 wishes in the United States since 1980.
• Meals On Wheels Association of America: provides national leadership to end senior hunger, offering home-delivered-meal services to people in need.
• Special Olympics: provides year-round sports and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Facebook users can also help share the love by visiting the “Share the Love Charities” tab on the Subaru of America Facebook page. Help Subaru allocate up to $250,000 in additional support to the five charities by submitting your vote for that charity to receive a $1 donation from Subaru. Upon submitting their vote, participants may share the experience with friends and view what percentage of votes their charity has received.
“Share the Love is rooted in our commitment to our customers and the causes they care about the most,” said Alan Bethke, director, marketing communications, Subaru of America. “We are pleased to continue the program for a fourth year and are excited about the expansion to the Facebook community.”

2011 Arizona International Auto Show Comes Nov. 24-27

Subaru Superstore is gearing up for the 2011 Arizona International Auto Show, taking place Thanksgiving weekend at the Phoenix Convention Center. The AZ auto show comes less than two weeks after our “Battle of the Brands” car show November 13, where we’ll debut the 2012 Subaru Impreza.
Hundreds of the latest 2012-model year vehicles will be on display at the Phoenix Convention Center November 24-27, including brand-new 2012 Subaru models already on sale at Subaru Superstore, and 2012 models yet to arrive at our Chandler Subaru dealership. Subaru representatives will be on-site to answer questions and provide information on these new models.
This exciting Arizona automotive event will offer an up-close look at the newest cars, crossovers, trucks, hybrid vehicles and more, as well as offer visitors the chance to get behind the wheel and test drive several hot new rides. From high-end sports cars to interactive family entertainment, the Arizona International Auto Show offers something for everyone.

Meet Dave Mirra at Subaru Superstore November 13!

Mark your calendars for November 13, because Subaru Superstore in Chandler is hosting the 2011 Battle of the Brands car show, featuring a special meet-and-greet with Subaru Rally Team USA driver Dave Mirra!
Many remember Dave Mirra from his pro BMX days, where he holds the record for most total X Games medals, as well as the record for most Gold medals. Mirra is one of the world’s best-known Action Sports athletes and is credited with bringing freestyle BMX into the mainstream.
Here’s a little more about Dave Mirra’s rise to rally racing fame.
Dave Mirra Bio – Subaru Rally Team USA
Dave Mirra’s need for speed and love of cars led him to become hooked on rallying after friend, and former Subaru Rally Team USA driver, Ken Block introduced him to the sport. Mirra completed training with the Subaru Rally Team USA in late 20007 and took home 2008 Rookie of the Year honors after competing in the 2008 Rally America National Championship. He impressed everyone in his rally debut at X Games 14, where he earned a Bronze medal after beating two top North American drivers in head-to-head heats.
In 2009, Dave Mirra’s rally program was expanded with increased support from Subaru of America Inc. and Monster Energy. He joined fellow Subaru Rally Team USA drivers Ken Block and Travis Pastrana at seven rounds of the 2009 Rally America National Championship, competing in the new Super Production class. In 2010, Dave piloted an Open Class Subaru Impreza WRX STI with co-driver Martin Headland at five Rally America rounds and also at X Games 16 in Los Angeles.
New for 2010 was the RallyCar Rally Cross series held at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey. This is a European style race on a mixed tarmac & gravel course where multiple cars race head to head. Dave was highly successful at this new discipline earning podium finishes at two of the three rounds. For 2011 Dave Mirra will be piloting his Open Class SRT USA #40 STI at all Rally America events.

Fuel Saving Tips & Free Diagnostic Inspections from Subaru Supertore!

Subaru Superstore knows how hard the rising gas prices have hit Arizona drivers, which is why we’re happy to support the Car Care Council’s Fall Car Care Month, a nationwide October program focusing on the importance of regular vehicle maintenance. To celebrate this occasion, Subaru Superstore’s Chandler Subaru dealership is offering Subaru owners free vehicle diagnostic inspections, including items that most affect fuel economy!
Subaru Superstore’s free “MPG Inspection” will help Subaru owners get the best possible fuel mileage after their visit to our Chandler Subaru service center.
While the vehicles will receive a thorough checkup of all major operating systems, the MPG — (“Maintenance Preserves Gas”) Inspection puts extra emphasis on the systems that can directly impact fuel mileage. Drivers will receive not only a written report of the vehicle’s condition, but helpful driving tips for maximizing fuel efficiency.
“October is always a good time to prepare your vehicle for the demands of winter driving,” notes Gary Palanjian, vice president, service, Subaru of America, Inc. “And this year, the increased fuel efficiency that comes with a well-maintained vehicle is more important than ever.”
As we prepare to debut the 2012 Impreza – the most fuel-efficient all-wheel drive car in America – at our Battle of the Brands car show November 13, we’d like to share these tips for improving fuel economy for any brand vehicle:
* Check your tire pressure – properly inflated tires can improve mileage by 3%
* Change motor oil and oil filter regularly, to protect your engine
* Replace a dirty air filter and improve MPG by as much as 10%
* Check spark plugs – a misfiring plug can cut fuel efficiency by up to 30%
* Run engine diagnostics – fixing a faulty oxygen sensor alone can improve MPG by up to 40%
* Drive sensibly; avoiding jackrabbit starts and stops can increase fuel economy by as much as 5%
* Observe speed limits – fuel economy drops 2% for every mile per hour that you drive over 55
* Remove excess weight, and improve fuel economy by 2% for every extra 100 pounds you remove
* Avoid excess idling, since idling longer than 60 seconds uses more gas than stopping and restarting
* Use cruise control to maintain a steady speed, which can increase fuel economy by up to 10%

Dave Mirras’s Official Subaru Impreza WRX STI Rally Car
The official rally car of the Subaru Rally Team is the WRX STI.
The 2011 WRX STI is the third-generation of the rally-bred supercar, which Subaru of America first launched to the U.S. market in 2004. Developed by Subaru Tecnica International, the high-performance and motorsports subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., the WRX STI is far more than a modified version of the WRX. The two models share a basic architecture, some interior trim, but little beyond that. Nearly every major mechanical system in the WRX STI is unique to this model: engine, transmission, DCCD All-Wheel Drive system, special suspension, brakes, plus interior appointments.

Subaru Video: “Gunning for Gold” 2011 Rally America Championship Documentary

Check out this short film “Gunning for Gold” — a behind-the-scenes look at how drivers David Higgins and Dave Mirra helped Subaru Race Team USA capture the gold at the 2011 Rally America Championship.
Higgins and teammate Mirra both drove 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STIs that were race-prepared to produce over 300 hp for the Rally America series, and over 550 hp for the Global Rallycross Series and X Games.
Former pro-BMX rider Dave Mirra is one of the world’s best-known Action Sports athletes and holds the record for the most total X Games medals, as well as the record for the most Gold medals. Mirra is credited with bringing freestyle BMX to the mainstream, but traded in his pedal power for horsepower when he joined Subaru Rally Team USA in late 2007.
