Efficiency and Durability
December 19, 2011 by SUBARULOVERS, under Subaru Safety, Videos.
Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive has the engine mounted in-line with the drivetrain, helping provide a seamless transfer of power to all four wheels.
Other AWD systems need additional drivetrain components to route the same power to the wheels, often using complex designs. More components tend to reduce vehicle efficiency and could add to higher maintenance costs.

IIHS Ranks the Best Booster Car Seats for Kids
November 8, 2011 by SUBARULOVERS, under Subaru Safety.
Looking for a good child booster seat? The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety just released its list of the best child booster car seats in terms of which ones provide the best seat belt fit, and which ones don’t — a key factor in protecting your child from harm.
IIHS is best known for its coveted Top Safety Pick vehicle awards, but it also rates the safety of child booster car seats, giving top scorers BEST BET status. IIHS is the only organization that tells parents which booster seats correctly position a vehicle safety belt for good lap and shoulder belt fit.
Booster seats are an important but often overlooked step for children who have outgrown a forward-facing child-safety seat because they elevate a child who is still too small to be correctly fitted by the adult-sized seat belt. A booster seat helps route the seat belt across the child’s chest and lap to give them the best protection in a crash.
“A record 31 seats have been designated BEST BETS, meaning they correctly position a vehicle safety belt on a typical 4 to 8 year-old in almost any car, minivan, or SUV,” says the IIHS. Prices for these top-rated child booster seats range from less than $15 to several hundred dollars.
Five booster seats are Good Bets for having acceptable belt fit. The IIHS does not recommend six booster seats because with them, seat belts don’t fit properly.
Among booster manufacturers, Harmony Juvenile Products continues to be a standout. All 5 seats the Canadian company currently makes, counting the Dreamtime in both modes, are BEST BETS.
Check out which booster seats made the cut below, or click here for a full list of model numbers and pictures.

Allstate Ranks Phoenix & Chandler Drivers the Best in Nation
September 16, 2011 by SUBARULOVERS, under Dealership News, Subaru Safety.
Pat yourself on the back, Phoenix drivers, because you’ve just been named the safest big city commuters in the country! Chandler, Arizona, drivers also topped the list as having some of the safest drivers overall.
Allstate Insurance just released its seventh annual “Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report,” which ranks America’s 200 largest cities in terms of how often car collisions occur to identify which cities have the safest drivers.
For the second year in a row, Fort Collins, Colorado, topped the list as having the safest drivers overall. Chandler, Arizona, drivers came in at a very respectable #4.
Most of the cities ranked – like Fort Collins and Chandler – are medium-sized metropolitan areas, so Allstate also compiled a list of the safest cities with populations of more than 1 million people. On that list, Phoenix came it at #1 – for the seventh year in a row! San Diego and San Antonio are the next safest big cities.
According to the 2011 Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report, Chandler, Arizona, drivers are 20.4% less likely to get into a collision compared to the national average and have an average of 12.6 years between collisions.
In big cities like Phoenix, drivers are actually more likely to get into an accident than the national average, but Phoenix commuters nearly meet that average by being 1.1% more likely to get into a collision. That’s pretty good when you consider commuters in Philadelphia – the worst big city on the list – who are more than 60% more likely get into a collision. The average number of years between collisions for Phoenix drivers is 10.1.
Just because you live in a city with some of the safest drivers in the country, however, doesn’t mean you should take automobile safety for granted. In the event you do have a collision, a vehicle equipped with top-notch safety features can keep you out of serious harm’s way.
Subaru is the only manufacturer with IIHS Top Safety Picks for all models, two years in a row. You can find all these top safety Subaru models at Subaru Superstore – the premiere Subaru dealership in Chandler and Phoenix, Arizona.

2011 Tribeca Is a Safe, All-Weather SUV with Class
March 29, 2011 by SUBARULOVERS, under Featured Vehicles, Subaru Performance, Subaru Safety.
Our customers love the 2011 Subaru Tribeca, which offers first-class safety credentials and excellent all-weather handling. In fact, handling is one of the best attributes of the Tribeca, which has better steering and body control than most midsize SUVs.
The Tribeca’s 8.4 inches of ground clearance and standard all-wheel give it the appearance of a tough off-road vehicle, but this mid-size crossover is better suited for suburban environments and all-weather performance.
The 2011 Tribeca comes in several trims – the new base Premium, the mid-level Limited and the top-of-the-line Touring model. All trims have the same 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine, seating for seven, fog lights, 18-inch wheels, power driver and passenger seat, heated front seats and third-row seating. They also come with a responsive engine and a particularly good all-wheel drive system that gives drivers advanced all-weather safety and performance while at the same time offering car-like handling.
The interior of the Tribeca features futuristic themes and flowing lines, supportive seats and a roomy second row. The new luxury Touring model recently joined the lineup and features a moonroof, navigation system and a reversing camera – all standard.
The 2011 Tribeca is also one of the safest vehicles in its class. The Tribeca has always done very well in government crash tests and was recently designated a “Top Safety Pick.” It’s also chock-full of standard safety features such as side-impact airbags for the front seats and side-curtain airbags for the first and second row.
If you’re looking for a safe midsize SUV with impressive handling and all-weather performance, check out the Subaru Tribeca. We have a great lineup of new and used models for you to choose from.

Subaru Wins 2011 TOP SAFETY PICK for All Models
March 3, 2011 by SUBARULOVERS, under Subaru Performance, Subaru Safety.

© Subaru of America, Inc.
Whether you’re racing the streets in your WRX or trekking up the mountaintop in your Outback or Forester, you can rest assured you’ll get there safely.
For the second consecutive year, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recognized Subaru of America as the only automotive manufacturers with a 2011 TOP SAFETY PICK winner in every vehicle class in which it competes.
“We know our customers take their safety very seriously and so we are very pleased that IIHS has recognized us again as the only manufacturer with a TOP SAFETY PICK winner for all its models,” said Tom Doll, executive VP and COO, Subaru of America, Inc. “This is an outstanding success and a tribute to the engineering that goes into our products. The IIHS reinforces to our customers that Subaru maintains the highest standards to produce vehicles that are fun-to-drive, durable, reliable, as well as safe.”
IIHS’s TOP SAFETY PICK recognizes vehicles that, in their testing, do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear and now rollover crashes. The results are ranked from the lowest ratings (“Poor” or “Marginal”) to the average (“Acceptable”) to the highest (“Good”). Winners in these categories must also have electronic stability control.
“Subaru is the only manufacturer with a TOP SAFETY PICK winner in every vehicle class in which it competes,” said IIHS president Adrian Lund. “The vehicles that earn this designation are the cream of the crop for protecting people in the most common kinds of crashes, and they have electronic stability control for helping drivers stay out of many crashes altogether.”
Come check out the cream of the crop for the categories of Small Cars (the Subaru Impreza), Midsize Cars (the Subaru Legacy and Outback), Midsize SUVs (the Subaru Tribeca), and Small SUVs (the Subaru Forester) at Subaru Superstore.
