The 2011 Impreza 5-door is a great small car option

February 21, 2011 by , under Featured Vehicles, Uncategorized.

If you’re looking for a quick, stylish compact car with a stellar safety rating and the versatility of a rear cargo door, the 2011 Impreza 5-door is an excellent choice.  With its rally car roots, the Impreza is a favorite among true Subaru purists, capable of hitting the back roads and rough terrain as well as handling morning gridlock.  Its top ratings in all four categories by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) move this hatchback to the head of its class; including top scores for frontal offset, side impact, roof strength and rear crash protection/head restraint.  According to U.S. News and World Report, the Impreza is “a sure-footed option for small car shoppers.”

In addition to standard Subaru All-Wheel Drive, the 2011 Impreza’s highest-possible safety ratings beat out others in the compact class such as the Suzuki SX4 and the Toyota Matrix.  And, with 170 hp under the hood, the Impreza bests Kia’s Forte at 156 hp, and the Mazda 3 at 167 hp.

An Olympic skier, dedicated to her dream…and her Subaru

February 16, 2011 by , under Uncategorized.

Meet Donna Weinbrecht, Olympic Gold-medalist and proud owner of her fifth Subaru.  Throughout her childhood and early training days of trekking from her home in New Jersey to ski areas in New Hampshire and Vermont, she relied on succession of Subaru vehicles to get her safely through the snow and back.  Read her winning story below…

Owner Spotlight: An Olympic Skier with a Subaru Love Story

My parents fell in love with skiing in the 1970s, and that led to me hitting the slopes at age 7. We regularly journeyed north from New Jersey to ski areas in Vermont and New Hampshire — An exciting adventure for a young Jersey girl in awe of the mountainous terrain with its plentiful snow.

With a set of snow tires on the rear of our large family station wagon and ski equipment in the cargo area, we were good to go. My brother, sister, and I thought it was fun slipping around in the snow to get into the driveways of our rented ski houses in New England. I’m sure it wasn’t much fun for our parents after five hours of driving.  What made it worthwhile was their new love of skiing, along with friends, wine, crisp cold air, the smell of pine mixed with a wood-burning fire, and ski chalets to explore.

In 1980, my father, a builder by trade, constructed a family ski house in Killington, Vermont. He did it single-handedly, using recycled materials from old jobs.  I was a freshman in high school. I felt athletic but had no outlet. I didn’t play traditional sports, so I founded our high school ski racing team.  Our family vehicle became an SUV, and my parents tried to head up to the Vermont ski house every weekend. We’d drive four-and-a-half hours on a Friday night, ski the weekend, then return Sunday for school and work.

The award-winning 2011 Forester has fuel-efficiency, cargo room and exceptional value!

February 11, 2011 by , under Featured Vehicles, Uncategorized.

If your lifestyle demands the cargo room and versatility of an SUV, but you’re reluctant to invest in a larger vehicle that could end up costing you more at the gas pump, take a look at the 2011 Subaru Forester.  Its newly designed DOHC Subaru Boxer engine provides a broader power band and improved fuel efficiency.  Regardless whether you choose the 2.5 liter 170 hp engine, or the turbocharged 224 hp engine, power and responsive acceleration are at your command while still averaging up to 27 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city.

While its size is small compared to other bulkier SUVs, the 2011 Forester offers ample cargo room and ensures you won’t be hauling around extra space you don’t need and won’t use.  Its compact, purposeful design includes 60/40 split flat-folding rear seats when you need to transport an over-sized object, pets or anything else that requires more floor area.  Its large rear gate is ideal for loading wider items easily, and with storage compartments conveniently located throughout the cabin, you’ll be able to keep your personal belongings secure and organized, too.

Car care tips for extra cold weather

February 7, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Uncategorized.

Is your vehicle prepared for cold weather?  Although the Phoenix area doesn’t get a lot of freezing temperatures, they do occur on occasion.  Read the following tips to ensure you and your car are ready for the cold…

Be prepared before freezing weather hits.  Here are a few items to pay attention to when the mercury starts to drop:

Cooling System Checklist

Antifreeze can be one of the trickiest parts of your winterizing routine because, even though it has a strong green color, the additives could be worn out. This can cause the inside of your radiator to rust. Adding water when the level is down will cause your antifreeze mixture to lose its ability to withstand freezing temperatures.

Your antifreeze should be replaced every two years. If you’re not sure when your antifreeze was last changed, you can easily check its endurance and freeze point with an antifreeze tester (they cost less than five dollars at any auto parts store). But if you’re not a do-it-yourselfer, be sure to have it checked by Subaru Superstore of Chandler’s Service Department. They have more accurate and reliable testers.

When it is time to replace your antifreeze, remember that antifreeze needs to be diluted with water in a 50-50 mixture.  You could also opt for a pre-mixed solution.  Be sure to check with the Subaru Superstore of Chandler’s Service Department for the optimal product for your vehicle.

To round out your cooling system checklist, have your water pumps, thermostats, radiators and hoses checked for cracks and leaks, and be sure to have the radiator cap replaced, and heaters and defrosters tested for proper operation.

Canada Week begins February 5th in Arizona

February 3, 2011 by , under Uncategorized.

Saturday February 5th, the 59th annual Great Canadian Picnic at South Mountain park will launch Canada week in Arizona. This event is sponsored by local Arizona businesses in honor of the high trade market between Canada and Arizona. Many Canadians have capitalized on the declined housing market and play a big part in the U.S. car market.

With a well known difference in the sales price between the U.S. and Canada, Canadian car buyers have been contributing to the U.S. car industry for years, purchasing here and shipping to Canada. We appreciate the contribution to our economy and celebrate the honor February 5-12th along with many other business, cultural and social ties.

The all-new Subaru FB Engine

February 1, 2011 by , under Dealership News, Subaru Performance, Uncategorized.

All-new FB Subaru Boxer engine

Looking for an engine that reduces exhaust emissions, increases power output and performance and costs less to maintain?   The first completely new engine design from Subaru in 20 years has been carefully engineered with innovative features that squeeze the most out of every aspect of its beautifully built system.

The FB25 Subaru Boxer engine makes its debut on the non-turbocharged 2011 Forester.  Features include a longer stroke to maximize fuel efficiency and cylinder heads and camshafts in separate pieces rather than one metal casting, which both simplifies the engine structure and reduces weight.  The fuel injectors were moved to the cylinder heads, improving flow of atomized fuel while increasing efficiency and lowering exhaust emissions.  Intake and exhaust systems optimize gas flow to heighten performance, while improved tuning in the exhaust system both reduces emissions and increases power output.  All the components are lightweight and the double overhead camshafts are driven by chains rather than toothed belts, eliminating the need for belt maintenance and replacement.
